Flickr Diptych: Annika and Niko
The fabulous Ruhue suggested we diptych pictures of our beautiful children doing one of their favorite activities at the playground, creature riding. 'Hoot posted a wonderful picture this week of Niko, so I went back to my archives to find a picture of Annika's that would marry well with the wistful daydream-like quality she captured with Niko.
Creating diptychs from photography is an exercise that I haven't done since college. Niko's picture really stands on it's own but is open to suggestion in a way, so I was finding that the pictures of AJ I tried out really dictated the "commentary" and direction for both as a whole; a full body shot that matched Niko's made it look like an editorial fashion shoot, AJ patting the horse made the daydream into a game of "let's pretend". I landed on this pairing finally. I love the quiet contemplation from both of them during what's usually a raucous activity; it's still, but not depressing.
